Hilton Honors Plus Debit Card: Welcome Bonus Points Increased to 50,000!

Hilton has brought back its biggest sign-up bonus on the Hilton Honors Plus Debit Card, which is issued by Currensea. The Welcome Bonus has increased to 50,000 points, from the standard 15,000 points, and you can apply until 14 December 2026. The card also gives instant Hilton Honors Gold status and the chance to earn Elite Qualifying Nights.

As at 13 October 2026. Terms can change, so check the card page before applying.

Welcome Bonus Points

The 50,000 points arrive in two parts:

  • 10,000 points on your first purchase
  • 40,000 points when you spend £2,500 in foreign currency within six months of opening the card

Up to 40 Elite Qualifying Nights

You also get 10 Elite Qualifying Nights when you spend £2,500 in foreign currency within six months.

In addition, you can unlock up to 30 additional Elite Qualifying Nights, 5 for every £5,000 spent in 2026.

What are Elite Qualifying Nights?
Hilton status is earned by counting nights. Each night you stay at a Hilton counts towards the next tier, and the card can add nights without you staying anywhere. In 2026 the thresholds are 10 nights for Silver, 25 for Gold and 50 for Diamond (so 40 nights is close to a Diamond tier!).

The nights can’t be spent on anything. They only get you status, and status is what’s worth having. Diamond earns 100% bonus points on stays, and Hilton lists further perks such as room upgrades and breakfast or lounge access at participating hotels. These vary by hotel and region, and upgrades are subject to availability, so check Hilton’s benefits page before you count on any of them.

Instant Hilton Honors Gold Status

Cardholders receive instant Gold status too! Perks including amongst others:

  • Complimentary daily continental breakfast, worth up to £50 per night for two people
  • Space-available room upgrades
  • 80% Points earning bonus on stays

Points Earning Rates

Spend typePoints per £1

Earn rates are determined by transaction currency, not physical location. A foreign currency transaction made online from the UK earns at the foreign currency rate.

Fee

£150 per annum

Does the bonus cover the fee?

At a cautious 0.33p per Hilton point, 50,000 points is worth about £165. Against a £150 fee, that’s a margin of £15. At 0.5p a point, which is realistic if you redeem well, it’s closer to £250.

Either way, you only get there after the foreign spend. Until then you’ve paid £150 and received 10,000 points, worth around £33 at the cautious rate. The card charges a 0.5% FX fee, so £2,500 abroad costs roughly £12.50, which is small. The real question is whether you’d spend £2,500 abroad anyway.

A worked example
Say you spend £2,500 on a holiday abroad within six months. You’d collect:

  • 10,000 points for your first purchase
  • 40,000 points for hitting the target
  • about 7,500 points for the spend itself, at 3 per £1

That’s 57,500 points. At a cautious 0.33p each that’s about £190, and at 0.5p about £290, before the £150 fee.

Who it suits

It suits you if you travel or spend abroad regularly, or you’re a Hilton regular who wants a faster route to status.

It doesn’t suit you if most of your spending is in the UK. Without the foreign spend you’ve paid £150 for 10,000 points and Hilton Gold status, which only pays off if you stay with Hilton often enough to use it.

We have covered the more basic information in our previous article.

The verdict

Simplistically, if within six months you spend £2,500 in foreign currency you will pocket 50,000 points, at least 10 Elite Qualifying Nights and instant Hilton Honors Gold status. If you’d spend £2,500 abroad over the next six months anyway, this is a no brainer!
