Barclays switching offer: get £200 cash or an experience worth up to £600 before 27 August 2026

Barclays is offering new customers £200 for switching to a standard current account, while eligible Premier customers can choose an experience worth up to £600. Be quick, though, as this offer closes on 27 August 2026.

Standard Barclays Bank Account: Switch your banking via the Current Account Switch Service (CASS), transfer at least two active direct debits, and deposit at least £2,000 within 30 days to receive your £200 cash bonus within 45 working days.

Barclays Premier: same switching mechanics, but you'll need to pay in at least £4,000 within 30 days rather than £2,000. In return, instead of cash, you're offered a curated experience worth up to £600 — restaurants, hotel stays, live events, family days out, chosen through Barclays' partner once you qualify.

To hold a Premier account, you must also meet one of the following standard criteria:

• An annual gross income of £75,000 or more paid directly into the account.
• A minimum of £100,000 held in savings or eligible investments with Barclays (including Investment ISAs, SIPPs, or General Investment Accounts via Smart Investor)

There's no additional fee for choosing Premier over standard as Premier itself has no monthly account fee.

Steps you need to do:

• Deadline: Open the account and initiate your switch by 27 August 2026.
• Eligibility & Rules: Must be a new Barclays customer without existing accounts, not a joint application, and never have claimed a switching bonus before.
• Switch & Direct Debits: Complete a full CASS switch via the Barclays app within 30 days, including at least two active direct debits.
• Funding Rule: Deposit the tier's minimum (£2,000 standard / £4,000 Premier) within 30 days (temporary deposit target, funds can be moved immediately after clearing).

Avios rewards

Premier (or Wealth) customers can opt into Avios Rewards for £12 monthly for 1,500 monthly Avios, plus an extra 25,000 Avios for completing a full CASS switch. At your anniversary, choose between a British Airways Cabin Upgrade Voucher or 7,000 bonus Avios.

First-Year rewards therefore can be worth up to 50,000 Avios in total or 43,000 Avios plus 1 British Airways Cabin Upgrade Voucher.

Note: The Cabin Upgrade Voucher is generally considered the more valuable anniversary choice.

So steps to get the 25,000 Avios joining bonus:

1. Open your first Barclays current account
2. Join Avios Rewards within 4 months of opening it with your British Airways Club account details. Note that you have to opt out of Barclays Blue Rewards and go paperless for your Barclays accounts
3. Switch your old bank account over to Barclays, using CASS, within 3 months of joining Avios Rewards (if you hadn't already done so)
4. Barclays pays the 25,000 Avios in your fourth month as an Avios Rewards member
